Upgrade Summaries

  • Core 2 / 7800Gtx Upgrade Summary:
    • Native games saw little or no improvement. We're graphics limited, and only a faster card will help.
    • Dosbox and virtual machine performance increased tremendously, averaging ~50% improvement!
    • Audio/Video: CD ripping/encoding is now as fast as my cd drive can operate. A cd drive upgrade will be required for better performance. DVD rip/encode 57% faster.
    • Integer computing performance increased twofold, while total power consumption increased 20%.
  • Core 2 / 3.5Ghz Overclock Summary:
    • Native games
    • Dosbox and virtual machine performance increased tremendously, averaging ~70% improvement!
    • Audio/Video: CD ripping/encoding is now as fast as my cd drive can operate. DVD rip/encode XXX faster.
    • Integer computing performance increased twofold, while total power consumption increased 53% (54w)
  • Vista 64 OS + 6GB upgrade Summary:
    • CPU Overclock: not very good with this much memory, reset baselines for processor back to 2.4Ghz.
  • 8800GT Video card upgrade Summary:
